How to improve the mileage of my 1996 Lancer GLXi?
Hi everyone… I need help for my 1996 lancer GLXi (Manual) 1.6L Engine.. I just bought it last month, it has a setup for headers and mufflers and has a simota air filter.
My problem is the consumption of fuel… i think its only 5km-6km per liter of gasoline (City Driving).. I just want to ask what are tips or ways to improve mileage of my car.. Thanks a lot…

Aside from the common-sense stuff like drive 55 on the freeway, don’t run the A/C, don’t do jack-rabbit starts, etc., you may want to consider putting in a K&N air filter. K&N sells air filters that are guaranteed for life as long as you clean them (they have cleaning kits) on a regular basis. They claim to improve horsepower and gas mileage. I have one in my 2001 Grand Prix and I haven’t watched the gas mileage closely, but I did notice a difference in power once I put the new filter in. May be worth a try.
check your tires regulary…
turn off your car if you are going to idle more than 30 seconds..
change your air filter every 6000 miles..
