Changing oil every 3000 miles is plain stupid…
3000miles was good interval back in the days we were using shitty oils in shitty engines but nowdays its NONSENSE!!
In the rest of the world, modern cars gets their oil change once a year or every 15000km (about 9000miles).
Also, when it comes to fuel mileage remember to do some math.
An oil change (with a good oil) cost u almost like a FULL GAS TANK… but… how many miles are u gonna gain from it?

I personally change my oil every 3000 miles, vehicles nowadays are designed to go 7500 miles without an oil change. Don’t believe it? Do ya research.

@psychodelicdragon usually 3000 miles is my rule for oil changes. Some people go 5000 or possibly higher, but i never will.

20$ on oil for 5 quarts? your using dish detergent. ahahaha

shut up, your an idiot

Would you eat food that you didn’t know where it came from, whats in it or the guy cooking it? Its people like you who should drive cars cuz you dont have a clue to what your doing besides pumping gas and sitting in the thing. I bet your the guy people see on the side of the road calling AAA when you get a flat rather then putting on a doughnut and getting your ass home

Well, well, well. Don’t you have a little temper!?

The “detergents” in “some” oils is so minor that it doesn’t even get mentioned.

As for “Why does oil get dirty?” It gets dirty because it is used to lubricate the moving parts of an engine, Inside a the cylinder, where the intake, compression, power and exhaust takes place, there is a build up of carbon from the gas and air mixture burning.

Most of the carbon is sent through the exhaust, but small amounts remain and stick to the walls. As the scraper ring cleans the wall on each strokethe carbon is then deposited and before it is sent through the engine once again it passes through the filter.

But tthis is for a fourstroke engine, would you like me to teach you about the inner workings of a twostoke engine?

Don’t be angry, Grover

oil has detergents in it so that it cleans off minor contaminants inside the crankcase
why do you think oil gets dirty?
stop talking if you don’t know what your talking about
you firecrotch

Why do drivers need to know the inner workings of internal combustion engines? Isn’t that the reason why they employ mechanics?

That is like saying “If you don’t know how to upgrade a computer, you shouldn’t be using one.”

WAKE UP AND STOP HANDING ON YOUR USELESS ADVICE.

BryceGrover , Oil cleans engine parts? That’s news to me. Here I was under the impression that oil was in your engine to lubricate all the moving parts.

I’VE BEEN LIED TO FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS!!!

Thank you for telling us the truth and handing on you wisdom Mr.Grover.

Toyota did a test in the 1980’s on oil lifetime.

Your oil DOES get dirty, so a good oil filter is a must, BUT the standard conventional oil will actually retain viscosity for up to 6,000 miles, BUT I wouldn’t recommend it. People say change your oil at 3000 or every 3 months. Personally I say, change it every 4,000 miles for most drivers. IF you live in extreme climates (High altitude, cold, or hot) change the oil every 3000 miles. Synthetics…will suprisingly hold out for 6K or 7k. Go Syn!

lol, with the way I drive, I have to do a oil change every 1,500 miles WHILE using grade 5 synthetic oil (royal purple). Usually a normal driver on grade 5 could change oil every 6k miles since they aren’t so harsh on the engine, But I’m a prick and race everywhere I go so 1,500 is right when the oil turns pitch black (from purple, cuz royal purple is actually purple oil).

i still say your a jackass
once a year is definitely not enough
you will most likely wear out your main bearings of your engine very fast
work on your car more often you wuss

well, i have gotten 200,000 out of my present ride and only change the oil once a year and it is a 2001 year model. it had 70,000 on it when i bought it in late 2001. how do you explain that??
just curious???

actually yes oil does go bad just sitting there
the detergents inside the oil start breaking down and doesn’t clean out the parts inside the engine very well
better to be safe than sorry
and yes i would spent my own $20 on 5 quarts of oil if i haven’t drove it in a while
thats how i make my engines last you idiot

well if you dont know that you dont HAVE TO get it changed every 3 months you shouldnt be driving either. oil doesnt go bad sitting there. nor does it get used if you dont go the 3000 miles. thats like you getting an oil change. not driving 3 months. then getting another one.

you are and idiot
at least every 3 months or every 3000 miles
whichever comes first
if you didn’t know that
you shouldn’t even be driving

i always forget to pump up my tyres offten, make sure you do.

also saves the tread on your tyres

i get one every 3 thousand miles

you don’t know anything…there are a lot of other ways as well.

You should have at least used the google

5 stars

how often do you recommend oil change?
