10 000$??? it will never cost that of gas?
pluse how many watts? add to mpg. 22000 for pruis 10000 more for batter pack. too pricey.
@douhnutz The hybrid system kicks in to take over if you are on low charge. You can turn off electric only for long duration trips. I have a PHEV Prius that is out of warranty and it is the best car to get around in. I have lots of stuff to deliver all the time and use the prius for it’s massive carry space for long distance journeys. I pay next to nothing for petrol at times and I have a solar array which pays me cash for electricity I supply to the grid. I didn’t pay that much for it all too.
@TheAdler83 A hybrid petrol is a good solution. I have a 2004 Prius and didn’t pay a lot for it as it was a second hand one. The Prius is truly incredible and does save you a lot of cash and headache in the long run. In the time you would own a Mercedes from 2004, you would have needed to replace a lot of parts already. I didn’t replace any parts yet except for oil and air filter, brake pads, tyres. I used to work for Merc and they don’t care about their customers. The quality is bad too.
@defendant420 It costs less than buying the equivalent amount of energy for petrol.
and how do you “charge your car” when your on a road trip?
what is their web page
Wow - I can see 300.00 to 500.00 for the cost . What is it made out of gold? lol
@axegrinder87 Volkswagen diesels have always been good as well…
2009 Jetta TDI gets 50-ish mpg…Alot of older diesel Jettas get 50-ish mpg… known fact… and with good driving techniques can do even better!
And to top it all off, they run forever too… not that this case is typical, but google search for “highest mileage volkswagen”. 500,000+
Don’t know why I can’t post links… If youtube’s new litte “Error, try again” crap was more specific, I might not despise their new layout.
There was a car first made in 1988 that was gas powered, fit two people quite comfortably, was a joy to drive, and got 50+ mpg.
It was the Honda Crx Hf, and you can get one nowadays for about 2 grand.
Piss off Prius. Besides, can’t be too good on gas when the pedal’s stuck.
A hybrid Toyota Prius already costs double a 1600cc Toyota Corolla to buy and then add this conversion kit which may not even be approved by Toyota to fit. If so watch out because if it causes damage to the cars systems you’ll be up for the repair bill. I think with that sort of money to buy a Prius and add the kit I’d rather buy a Mercedes for the capital outlay.
ah sweet! so your telling me when i get rearended that some batteries might also explode spewing battery acid all over me! i would totally pay 10 grand for that!!!
So a hybrid can cost upto $10,000 more than some baseline gasoline powered cars and then pay another 10k for this? I’d rather power my car by hydrogen or build an electric car.
oh yeah, now you must pay for electricity too
Where did the money come from to take on such moronic ventures that are full of BS? They don’t tell you what your electric bill will be nore that by the time it gets to your house only 1/3 of the original coal energy is left. I have designs for a vehicle light enough that two people could pick it up and put it in the back of a pick up and it will run off of wood gas I can make myself. It will never happen in a world of greedy lies.
You would be lucky if the batteries last for5 years, costing 20,000 in 10 years
I have to pay 10,000 smakaroos so my car wont pollute?
more than $10.000 for the charging kit?….i can run my car 10 year with this amount of money…i dont think this kit can last 10 years+still paying for electric and gas
one electric hp=one internal combustion hp
I wasn’t converting. I was stating that electric power isn’t measured the same way as fuel engines. Thats all.
what do you mean measured differently. maybe I’m missing something about what you said but one hp is 746 watts. Thats what I was always taught in school and every formula I’ve ever figured out with hp has always been that.
Most people would be wasting money, these car suck! I had one of these junk, what a waste of money.
Also what about after you reach 35+mph the engine kicks on?
The electric motor wont push this car over 35, the computer kick on the engine for greater speeds…..
This is incredibly impractical. $10,000 plus for the kit? You’d have to drive for more then 10 years just to make up the cost of the kit in fuel savings. Diesel-electric hybrids are going to be the wave of the future once the cost comes down.
Just for this video I’m going to hop into my Hummer H2 and floor it all the way up to 80 mpg on my next trip to the grocery stroe.
I converted my Pontiac Sunfire to water using this method and noticed about a 40% increase in mileage. I used the plans at:
